This is a gorgeous property. Karen and John clearly put a lot of love into restoring this neglected historical building to its former glory. Everything has been given 100%: from the top quality breakfast, to the Scandinavian ambience (hygge in spades) and beautiful fixtures and fittings.
A superbly comfortable bed, I went to sleep with the lap of sea on shore – outside the beam flashing from the little lighthouse at the end of the pier.
Donaghadee is a lovely little fishing town, now full of chic cafes and restaurants, and Strangford Lough with its stately homes, drumlin islands, ruins and Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty designation is only a stone’s throw away. Book it.
