A Georgian house on the harbour.
In the early 1900s this building was Louden’s, a grocery and drug store on the Donaghadee seafront. We restored it into five bedrooms, most of them looking straight out over the harbour, the lighthouse and the Copeland Islands. It’s small on purpose: a handful of rooms and proper beds.
Your host, Karen.
Karen was born in Belfast, grew up in Bangor and now lives here in Donaghadee. She has run One Shore Street for seven years, and she knows the town and the coast inside out. Ask her where to eat tonight, where to go for a drink, which walk to do or how to get to the airport for an early flight, and she’ll point you the right way. She’ll often book it for you too. Then, in the morning, she’ll cook your breakfast.

The harbour is across the road and the lighthouse sits at the end of the pier. Walk the seafront, watch the boats come in, or stay in the window seat and let the Irish Sea do the entertaining.
When you’re ready to go further, the Copeland Distillery is a short walk away, Donaghadee Golf Course is just up the road, and the rest of the Ards Peninsula is on your doorstep: quiet beaches, Strangford Lough, and small villages with good pubs. Then come back to a warm room and a very good bed. That’s the whole plan.
